Terrible Taxidermy Tuesday

I think the acorn is nailed to his decrepit paw.

'merica!
I found these beauties in Ottumwa, Iowa.  God bless amateur taxidermists.  Without them life would be less beautiful and hilarious.  I hope that the spirits of these animals can see the humor in this.

  1. I wonder where the flag is attached to the guinea pig. That's odd. Taxidermy creeps me out in general, so I don't know that I have seen "good" taxidermy. This is obviously bad. That I can tell. Is Terebile Taxidermy Tuesday going to be a recurring segment on your blog? Wow, I just spelled terrible so badly, there were no suggestions for it. I'm going to leave it that way.

  2. that made me literally LOL. I agree, I don't like most taxidermy. I find it strange and kind of degrading to the departed beast. I understand shooting something and using it's meat to feed the hungry (and maybe keeping the antlers) but shooting something just because you're rich and want to brag about it. Or shooting it because it's beautiful. I find the whole sport terribly confusing but then again...I am from Chicago.

  4. I am from Philadelphia, so the only animals we shoot are each other. And we do not stuff the bodies and hang them on our wall. Our food comes from the grocery store. Period. I don't get it either. I will let you know if I find anything particularly terrible. :P
